The game will be a repeat of last season’s FA Women’s Cup Final when Arsenal played Leeds United, with The Gunners on that occasion running out as 5-0 winners.
Arsenal are managed by Vic Akers, one of Arsene Wenger’s trusted backroom staff and are packed full of international players, many of whom are likely to play for England in September’s FIFA Women’s World Cup in China.
Leeds United meanwhile have been building their squad with some of the most talented youngsters in the game, alongside England internationals like winger Sue Smith, and this season have lost just once in the FA Women’s Premier League.
Peter Hough, Chairman of The FA Women’s Premier League, said: “The FA looks to take its showpiece matches around the country and we know that the region is increasingly seeing more and more girls and women playing the game.
"The facilities at Scunthorpe United are first class and when the club moved from The Old Showground in 1988, they set the benchmark for a whole new generation of football stadia in this country.
“On the field the club are having a tremendous season and we hope that a large number of the club’s supporters will come out in force to see some of the most talented female players, many of whom will also carry England’s hopes in the World Cup later this year.
In 1991 ‘The Iron’ hosted their first fixture on behalf of The Football Association; an U21 friendly international between England U21 and Germany.
In 1994, the club hosted The FA Women's Cup Final between Doncaster Rovers Belles and Knowsley United followed by two men’s U17 internationals and on 8 December 2006, the club hosted the U16 Victory Shield game between England and Scotland at the last minute, after York City’s ground suffered from a waterlogged pitch.
Scunthorpe United’s General Manager Jamie Hammond added: " We’re delighted to be recognised once more by The FA as being able to host such prestigious matches and look forward to hosting this match between two of the top teams in women’s football.
“With prices set to attract in particular junior teams, schools and families, we would love to see the ground at capacity in what is one of the most important years ever for women’s football.”
Tickets are available now priced £5 for Adults and £2.50 for concessions by contacting Scunthorpe United’s ticket office on 01724 848 077.
There are special group rates available for groups of 15 people or more, priced at £1, and booking forms can be downloaded here.
