Watford put in a fantastic performance to shock Premier League leaders Bristol Academy, scoring six goals after falling behind to a Kerry Bartlett strike on eight minutes.

The Hornets were ahead within seven minutes, as Lisa Burrows curled home a free-kick and Ashlee Hincks converted a penalty after Helen Lander was brought down.

Lander then finished off a great team effort and Ellen Maggs effectively put the game out of reach by the half-hour, from Hayley Kemp's 40-yard ball. Hincks cut out a poor defensive pass on the edge of the Bristol box and lifted the ball neatly over the keeper to make it 5-1 at the break.

In the final 20 minutes, Burrows set up Lander for her second and Nikki Watts added a late consolation.

Doncaster got their first win of the season as they scored twice without reply at home to Birmingham. Emily Heckler got the Belles off to a good start scoring in the sixth minute. Carla Cantrell then added the second, midway through the second-half.

Chelsea's first win came at the expense of Liverpool, with Ellen White opening the scoring with only two minutes gone. Eniola Aluko doubled the lead just before the break and Dunia Susi made it 3-0 straight after the restart. Cheryl Foster soon replied but Katie Owen secured the win after 77 minutes.

Cardiff City claimed their first victory of the season at the seventh attempt, winning 4-0 at Charlton. Terri Beddows rose unchallenged to head home Cardiff’s opening goal. A quick counter attack from Cardiff then saw Natasha Harding break clear and slip the ball past the advancing Musial for the visitor’s second goal after 35 minutes.

Early in the second period Cardiff crossed from the right flank and Dykes glanced the ball into the far corner of the net. On 62 minutes, Musial came out from her goal to make a fine smothering save only to see the ball rebound to Lauren Townsend, who clipped the ball over the keeper into the empty net for Cardiff’s fourth.
