FAWPL Birmingham 2-2 Cardiff

Sally Lacey and Maz Gauntlet both put Birmingham into the lead, but Cardiff showed their persistance to steal a point.

Birmingham City are up to second in the FA Premier League National Division, after a 2-2 tie with Cardiff City, in which they were reduced to ten players after Jemma Butler was red-carded.

Sally Lacey sent Birmingham into the break with a one goal lead, getting on the end of a deep free-kick and heading back across the keeper.

Gwennan Harries equalised on 56 minutes with a well-timed run and a looping header over Sue Ward in the Birmingham goal. Maz Gauntlet restored the lead shortly after but Jess Fishlock converted a penalty with just eight minutes to go leaving the game all-square and the points shared.

Doncaster Rovers Belles enjoyed a fine 2-1 success, coming from behind to beat Everton, 2-1. Becky Easton's 17th minute volley soon brought a response from Carla Cantrell and Vicky Exley's 35th minute effort proved to be the winner.

Elsewhere Charlton notched an impressive 3-1 victory at home to Bristol Academy, with Eni Aluko grabbing a brace and Jo Potter completing the scoring for the Addicks.

Blackburn hit five against Sunderland with a brilliant display from Amanda Barr who hit a hat-trick. Sara McCrea and Katie Anderton completed the scoring for the North West side who notched their first top flight points in the process.

Fulham are at the foot of the Division, having lost 1-0 to Leeds United at their new Burnham FC home. Natalie Preston was the scorer, seven minutes into the second-half.
