The 19-year-old attacking midfielder has moved from her native Sunderland to join Mo Marley's Everton side.

The England U19 international trained with her new teammates for the first time on Friday night and is set to go straight into the Everton squad for Wednesday's Charity Shield encounter with Arsenal at Crewe.

Everton boss Marley is delighted to have signed Scott from under the noses of a number of other top flight clubs and believes Scott can bring another dimension to a young Everton side eyeing a title challenge in the forthcoming season.

She told evertonfc.com: "Every year we are looking to recruit players. Sunderland narrowly missed out on relegation last season and when we learned that a player of Jill's calibre could be on the move we moved quickly.

"We asked her to come over and check us out to see if she was interested in coming here. We heard there were a lot of clubs interested in Jill. She is just starting to make her mark in the national squad and she has a bright future ahead of her so we are delighted to have her here.

"Being able to join a club with so many other talented young England players will only help Jill. She gets forward well and is very good in the air - she will be a good asset."

Scott is delighted to have been given the chance to join the Blues, adding: "I am looking forward to this season. I want to help the side win the title.

"I like to get forward and scored six or seven goals last season but I want to get into double figures this season.

"I know quite a few of the girls already from the England set-up and I know I am going to enjoy it here. The game on Wednesday is also something I am really looking forward to."
