Arsenal and Scotland international star Julie Fleeting has kick-started the new year in style, having been voted The FA Nationwide Women’s Player of the Month for December.
A selection panel, which included England coach Hope Powell, chose Julie for her excellent scoring form during December. Julie scored hat tricks in two of Arsenal’s recent games.
Her prolific scoring form started with three well-taken goals against Doncaster Belles in the Premier League followed by another three against Birmingham City in the Women’s Premier League Cup Semi-Final, a game Arsenal won 3-1.
Julie said: "We’ve had some great results recently and we’ve all worked incredibly hard as we are competing in three cup competitions as well as the league.
"To be named Nationwide Player of the Month is a real honour and with only a handful of games left to go until the end of the season, I’m hoping that I can keep the goals coming to help the team."
Nationwide's Chris Hull commented: "We would like to congratulate Julie on her top-class performances and essential contribution to Arsenal’s league and cup campaigns.
"She has scored a number of fantastic goals and has joined a small, but ever growing, group of players to be named Nationwide Player of the Month."
