The event at Aldercar Community Language College in Langley Mill was organised by the College’s Assistant Principal and School Sport Co-ordinator Kathy Hardy, in partnership with Derbyshire County FA.

Over thirty girls participated in the event that involved football coaching delivered by FA qualified coaches from Derby County FC Football in the Community Scheme and Lane 1 Coaching, with girls being signposted to local FA Charter Standard girls team, GFC Codnor.

Participants also took part in various discussion workshops and looked at the importance of healthy eating, diet, nutrition and hydration when playing football and also personal safety.

The second day saw Rachel make a special visit and she
spent the afternoon answering a wide range of questions, while the girls listened intently to the advice that Rachel offered to them.

Rachel then got writers cramp signing posters, cards, shirts before posing for photos and presenting them with certificates and giveaways at the end of the event.

Keely Brown, Girls and Women’s Football Development Officer for Derbyshire County FA told TheFA.com: “This event was another great example of successful partnership working in Derbyshire and the attendance of Rachel was the perfect way to end the course.

"The girls were delighted to meet a Women’s International player. I would like to thank Kathy at the College for her hard work in ensuring the event was so successful and Rachel for again taking the time to support girls’ football in Derbyshire”.
