Newcastle Football Development Scheme Girls Centre of Excellence, in conjunction with Northumberland FA has completed its second official season. The centre runs age bands from U10, U12, U14 & U16 years old.
Newcastle Girls Centre of Excellence is the first to be officially issued with the FA licence covering areas from Northumberland, Tyne & Wear & North Tyneside.
The Centre allows girls from a range of ages who have potential to develop to a high level, to make the first step on the ladder on the England Talent ID programme. Players also have the opportunity to play against other Centres from around the country in organised regional festivals.
There are 50 FA affiliated girls centre of excellences across the country, ensuring the best players are directed to the centres and are given the opportunity to develop to their full potential.
The girls are given full coaching support with FA qualified coaches and Fitness Trainers. Quality coaching and support is given to the girls, with the centres being the first step on the pathway to the National U15, U17, U19 and U21 squads.
Assessment dates for next season’s squads are currently being finalised, and will be held in venues across the Northumberland, North Tyneside and Tyne and Wear areas.
