The Sheffield & Hallamshire County FA recognise the important role of the coach and so for the second year are staging a Level 2 coaching course specifically for women.

The Level 2 certificate in coaching football course, is being held at Handsworth Junior Sporting Club from 17th July, with the course containing a mixture of classroom and theory work combined with practical drills.

Julie Callaghan, the Girls and Women’s Football Development Officer for the County FA said: “It’s tremendous that so many women in our area are keen to become coaches.

"It’s no secret that we need more female coaches in football throughout the country. Girl’s teams are being formed every day. The Girls County League has gone from 44 teams to 140 in just two seasons.

"The course is very demanding physically and mentally. There’s a lot of coursework to do, a lot of homework and sessions planning to be done but I give them all the support I can."

The women will also take part in the Mentoring Scheme run by the Sheffield & Hallamshire County FA. Mentors are appointed to support each future coach to help and guide them through the course.
