AMANDA BARR DOB: 02/05/82 Club: Everton 'Munch' has an outstanding record at England Under-18 level, scoring 11 goals in 18 games, and has two senior caps. The striker rejoined Everton Ladies in the summer after playing for Doncaster Belles in season 2000/01 and previously played for her home team Stockport County for six years until 1999. She is studying for a BTEC National Diploma in PE and Sports Science, and previously worked as a fitness instructor at a leisure centre. A Manchester United fan, Amanda models herself on Michael Owen and Kelly Smith. Amanda scored her first senior goal in a friendly against Sweden in a 6-3 defeat in the friendly tournament, the Algarve Cup.
FAYE CARDIN
DOB: 25/07/84 Club: Birmingham City Faye has played for England Under-16s four times and looks up to senior team player Katie Chapman for inspiration. 'Fabien', as she is known, plays in central defence for her club side Birmingham, but plays at right-back for England. She is studying for a BTEC National Diploma in Sports Sciences. A small defender, but also committed, she enjoyed winning the AXA FA Northern Division title with The Blues in April 2002.
SIOBHAN CHAMBERLAIN
DOB: 15/08/83 Club: Chelsea Fulham fan Siobhan played for The Whites from the age of ten, until leaving the club this summer for Chelsea. The goalkeeper will study a Sports Science degree at Loughborough University and has already earned her first Under-18 cap. One of her lesser known skills is that she has represented her county at trampolining.
SHELLY COX
DOB: 16/05/84 Club: Southampton Saints ‘Goggles’ as she is known, is a left-footed player, who can operate either in defence or in midfield. She was a member of the Southampton Centre of Excellence and has played for Southampton Saints for four years. Her football heroes are David Ginola and Paolo di Canio, and she will take A-levels in PE, Human Biology and Sports Studies. Shelly was part of the Under-19 squad which travelled to Sweden to take part in the European Championship Finals in May.
ARAN EMBLETON
DOB: 17/10/81 Club: Doncaster Belles Right-winger ‘Azza’ started out playing for Blyth Spartan Kestrels, moved to Doncaster Belles, and then rejoined Blyth, under their newly formed alliance as Sunderland AFC Ladies. Aran used to play for her primary school boys team just to get a game and idolises football legend George Best, despite being a Newcastle fan. She has played two substitute appearances for the senior England side, as well as winning four caps for the Under-18s.
LEANNE HALL
DOB: 19/05/80 Club: Doncaster Belles Goalkeeper Leanne has already proved her promise to England national coach Hope Powell, who has rewarded her with four senior caps. A Sheffield Wednesday fan, she played for Wednesday from the age of 11 until joining Belles at 15, where she has established herself as the No.1 keeper. Leanne has represented her county at tennis, hockey and netball, and comes from a footy-mad family. She will be studying a HND in Sports Science and Coaching, and hopes to become a professional player or coach.
MICHELLE HICKMOTT
DOB: 20/02/85 Club: Birmingham City 'Hicky' plays in left-midfield or at left-back for Birmingham City and has signed up for a BTEC National Diploma in Sports Science. She used to play in the boys team at primary school and still enjoys playing tennis and basketball. Michelle is an Arsenal fan and cites Marieanne Spacey, Thierry Henry and Kelly Smith as her idols. She has earned four Under-16 caps to date and has been a part of the Under-19s squad this season.
ALEXA HUNN
DOB: 23/08/82 Club: Charlton Athletic International: England Under-18 (9 caps/10 goals)
Hunn has played for Charlton, and previously Croydon, for five seasons. She is famous for scoring a spectacular goal in 1999 when she dribbled the ball from her own area and shot into the net as England Under-16s beat Scotland 5-0 at Wembley. 'Ginge', as she is affectionately known, is an attacking midfielder or forward and has scored a very impressive 10 goals in nine games for England Under-18s. She is also a keen long-distance runner winning the London Mini Marathon in 1995 and 1996 and representing her county.

DOB: 16/09/83 Club: Sheffield Wednesday International: England Under-18 (3 caps/0 goals)
Carla was a member of the Sheffield United Centre Of Excellence and her dream is to play professional football. Carla got involved in football when her dad, a keen player himself, used to shoot balls at her in goal. She has always played for Sheffield Wednesday and cites David Seaman as her hero. 'Carlo' will study for a BTEC National Diploma in PE and Sports Science this season.
KELLY McDOUGALL
DOB: 22/01/84 Club: Everton A terrific player 'Macca' scored on her Under-16s international debut in the Dublin Tournament against Scotland and has gone on to win several caps at Under-19 level – as well as being included in two recent senior squads. A regular in the Everton side in left midfield, Kelly previously played for Rainhill United and Knowlesly. Macca is in the second year of her BTEC Sports Science Diploma and is considering teacher training at university. She cites David Beckham and Pele as her idols.
JOSANNE POTTER
DOB: 13/11/84 Club: Birmingham City Jo plays in left midfield and has been a useful addition to England Under-16s, scoring one goal in seven games. She was a member of the Chesterfield Centre Of Excellence after being spotted playing for her Nottinghamshire county team. A Liverpool fan, Jo idolises Steven Gerrard, David Beckham and Sue Smith, and will study a BTEC National Diploma in Sports Science. Jo started the season as a Sheffield Wednesday player, but soon transferred to Birmingham City and made an immediate impact by scoring on her debut.

DOB: 18/01/85 Club: Sheffield Wednesday Leanne joined Wednesday in the summer after playing for local Sheffield side Steel City Wanderers for five years. A midfielder who can play on the right or left, she idolises David Beckham. She has four Under-16 caps and will study A-levels in Sports Studies, Biology, Art and Geography.
SARAH SMITH
DOB: 18/06/85 Club: Sheffield Wednesday Sarah was snapped up by Northern Division side Wednesday in the summer, after impressing as a striker for Chesterfield Ladies. Born in Rotherham to a family of fanatical Manchester United fans, Smith is a big David Beckham and Eric Cantona fan. Highly regarded as a sprinter, she has scored one goal in four Under-16 appearances. She will study for a BTEC National Diploma in Sports Science.
JULIE SPEARINK
DOB: Club: Southampton Saints Julie grew up in California, but her parents are English which makes her eligible to play for England and join the development centre. She started playing the game at the age of three and was playing for San Ramon Impact Under-19s before she left the USA. She was spotted playing in the US by a scout who recommended her to Arsenal for a trial, from which she was recommended to England. Julie played for Loughborough Students at the start of the season, before moving to Southampton Saints.
BETH SUTCLIFFE
DOB: 14/09/82 Club: Oldham Curzon Beth is a regular in the Oldham central defence and got involved in playing football through her friends and family. She is very ambitious and will be reading History Of Art at Loughborough University. Beth can also play in midfield and her hero is Roy Keane. Although she has not won a cap yet, she has been selected for Under-16 training camps.
KATY WARD
DOB: 05/01/84 Club: Birmingham City After spending five years with Aston Villa, Kate transferred to Birmingham City in the summer and she also previously played for Wolves. She got involved with playing football after hanging around with male friends when she was younger and she also played for an organised girls team at school. A Villa fan, Kate has played for the Under-16s and holds four caps at Under-18 level. She will continue her studies for a BTEC National Diploma in Sports Science, joining the second year. The season 2001-02 really has been a breakthrough year for Katy, being top scorer for Birmingham City as they won the Northern Division and with it promotion to the women’s top flight as well as proving herself for England Under-19s.
JESSICA WRIGHT
DOB: 11/09/83 Club: Arsenal Jess has registered for a BTEC National Diploma in Sports Nutrition and is considering a career in the army when she graduates. She recently joined Arsenal after playing for Berkhamsted for three years and names Stuart Pearce and Mo Marley as her football heroes. With six caps at Under-16 level and having made her Under-18 debut, Jess is hoping to make the most of her time at Loughborough.
