Brent Hills' England Women's U21 side bounced back from their midweek defeat to Norway with an exciting 2-1 win over tournament hosts Sweden.
A vociferous crowd of over 1000 were there to see the match, including England Head-Coach Sven-Göran Eriksson, who had been invited to the match by the Nordic Cup organisers, as the fixture was being played close to
his home.
England got off to the perfect start, opening the scoring after just six minutes when Ellen Maggs put the ball beyond the reach of Swedish goalkeeper Maja Åström.
Captain Alex Scott, who was one of England's best performers in the recent Euro 2005 tournament, doubled the advantage midway through the second half.
The home fans were given something to cheer when Madeline Edlund pulled one back on 64 minutes.
England now contest a Third Place Play-off at midday on Tuesday against Germany after both team finished runners-up in their respective groups.
