England Under-19s recorded a 3-1 victory over Republic of Ireland on Friday 19 March.

The match at Gravesend & Northfleet FC was a good warm-up for the England squad who will play their Second Group Qualifying stage in France next month.

England face European champions France, the Netherlands and Belgium in a four-team group, from which there is just one automatic qualifying place for July’s Finals in Finland.

There are also three best runners-up places available from the four qualifying groups.

England have reached the Semi-Finals of the past two annual European Championships. If they got to the same stage of this year’s Finals they would qualify for the second FIFA U19 Women’s World Championship, taking place in Thailand in November.

On Friday, England saw off the challenge of Republic of Ireland despite missing several key players due to injury. Goals from captain Michelle Hickmott (30), Beth Bailey (63) and Katie Holtham (90) gave England a comfortable victory.
