In her increasingly popular column, Eni talks about the magic of The FA Cup and a triumph over her old club Birmingham.

This time of the year is always unique, as it sees the meeting of different teams within the hierarchy of English football go head to head in The FA Cup. I liken many games within both the women’s and men’s FA Cup to David v Goliath affairs whereby the lesser have the opportunity to defeat the greater.

Whilst the media tends to focus on the glamour of the Premiership throughout the season, The FA Cup gives lesser known sides their moment of glory.

The Third Round men’s draw could see an upset with Birmingham travelling to Torquay, Arsenal v Cardiff and Nuneaton/Histon v Middlesbrough, to name a few. Do you see any other potential upsets?

Charlton’s draw against Bristol City or Reading Royals away in the women’s FA Cup Fourth Round is going to be difficult either way, but as holders we will look to defend the trophy we won last year.

Last year’s FA Cup Final against Everton is a game that is still vivid in my memory and one that always brings a smile to my face. Scoring the winning goal was the pinnacle of my career so far and a feeling I hope I can relive again.

It is amazing to me that people not only in South East London, but also Birmingham and Nigeria watched the game.

When I get emails from aspiring young players, recognising me as an inspiration to them, it makes me more determined to keep up the good performances.

I received a great email from Gill Flaherty of Arsenal and England U15s and 17s who was at our recent 3-3 home draw against Arsenal. Gill, I’ll forgive you for supporting Arsenal that day. I am sure you’re a ‘pukka’ player too!

It is always great to hear of young players playing in teams such as Arsenal and representing England. It was not long ago I was in the U17s team playing in a tournament in Scotland, which I thoroughly enjoyed.

Keep up the good work Gill and enjoy the opportunities that come your way! Our 1-0 win against Birmingham on Sunday was a difficult game that was settled with 13 minutes remaining.

Birmingham were extremely difficult to break down and played some excellent football at times. Thankfully we ground out the result and got the three points we really needed.

The pressure at the top will continue to mount but it is up to us to stay ahead of the pack and continue winning our games.

I must say I am looking forward to the Christmas break. It is always important to spend time with friends and family and have time to do things like going to the theatre, shopping and going to live concerts which I thoroughly enjoy doing in my spare time.
