Charlton and England midfielder Katie Chapman brings you the latest on her injury situation as she looks ahead to the 2005 UEFA European Women's Championship.
Hello everybody, I hope you are all better than me at the moment!
I am recovering from the hand I broke playing for England in the friendly against Scotland, which has been really, really disappointing and frustrating for me.
In the last two weeks I have had to sit and watch the two biggest games of the season so far, the league decider against Arsenal and then the Women’s FA Cup final against Everton.
Despite the injury my first full season at Charlton has been brilliant. I have enjoyed it and we have done well in the league and the cups so I can’t really complain.
It was great for the girls to win the Women’s FA Cup on Monday. It was third time lucky for Charlton and a lot of the girls had suffered defeat in the previous finals so I was really happy for them but it was hard to watch! I would have loved to have been out there.
I am currently on my way to Barnsley with the England squad as we are playing Norway in a friendly tomorrow night. It will be a good test for us and exactly what we need with the Women’s Euros just a month away. The confidence in the camp is good and Kelly Smith is back in the squad so things are going well.

Even though I can’t play I am going to stay involved with the squad, which is nice as I want to keep up with what is going on. I had an operation on my hand last week, which went well, so it is getting better all the time.
I will still be training and keeping fit but I have to be careful not to get a knock on the hand. I will probably be in the gym most of the time and joining in the non-contact work.
The injury is a massive blow to me and I keep thinking to myself why has it happened now? I am having an X-Ray in three weeks when I will probably get the definitive yes or no as to whether I will be fit to play during the Summer.
They are going to see if the bone is healing together nicely and, if it is, then things will be fine. But I am hoping that even if it is still a bit iffy then I will be able to play anyway.
I want to play so badly as it is a once in a lifetime experience. It is the European Championships in this country and I would be absolutely gutted if I wasn’t a part of it.
My gut instinct is telling me that I will be OK and I am keeping my fingers crossed – on my right hand!!
The healing process is going well though, the stitches are being taken out on Monday and I have got exercises to move it so it is looking good.
I will talk to you all very soon.
