England v Scotland
FA Women's International
Tranmere Rovers FC
7.45pm, Thursday 21 April 2005
(Live on Sky Sports)
England Women's National Coach Hope Powell has selected her squad for their International Friendly match against Scotland next week.
With Women's Euro 2005 less than two months away, it's good news for England with the return to the side for Rachel Brown. The Everton 'keeper told TheFA.com only last week that "things are going pretty smoothly" following surgery on a anterior cruciate ligament injury that has kept her out of action since January 2004.
Also back in the squad is Everton midfielder Sammy Britton, another ACL injury victim, who hasn't played for her country since the May 2003 friendly match away against Canada.
The only other change from the squad that remained unbeaten in the Algarve Cup last month, save from the penalty shootout defeat to China, is Arsenal's Lianne Sanderson. The young forward misses the match after being selected for England's Under-19s three important European Qualifiers versus Moldova, Italy and Norway.
Meanwhile, north of the border, Scotland's new coach Anna Signeul has named her first ever squad, which will make the trip to Merseyside.
The one that England will know a lot about is Arsenal striker Julie Fleeting and she is joined in the squad by three other English-based players; Michelle Barr from Leeds United and Michelle Kerr and Nicky Grant who ply their trade at Doncaster Rovers Belles.
