England were in training this week ahead of their international friendly fixture against Italy tonight.

The game forms part of the Three Lions' preparation campaign for Women's Euro 2005, which takes place in the North West of England in June, and Women's National Coach Hope Powell is looking forward to the first outing of the year.

Italy, who are one of the eight competing nations in this Summer's finals, are a side who will give England an interesting challenge.

"They're in the European Championship finals, we've played them on a few occasions and they've always proved difficult," said Powell.

"Italy have very tricky, fast, dynamic players so it will be a tough contest."

After tonight, England then focus on an important week in their final build-up with a trip to Portugal for the Algarve Cup, where all but one of the sides who'll be in England this June will be taking part.

"I was fortunate enough to go to the Algarve Cup a few years ago. It's a very good tournament, the best teams in the World are there," added Powell.

"With potentially four games, it gives you an opportunity to try things, try  players, so it's a really good tournament and we're looking forward to it."
