Swindon Town manager Paul Sturrock will be travelling on the bus with his academy side for Thursday's FA Youth Cup trip to Salisbury.

And with a home tie against QPR in The Third Round Proper awaiting the winners, Under 18 coach Jeremy Newton called on his side to impress the new boss.

He told the club's website: "All the big academy clubs have come in at the round three stage. Newcastle United, Manchester United and Liverpool are all involved now, so there are some exciting ties in prospect.

"Our focus is firmly on our game and we will be preparing in the right manner.

"We will be having a pre-match meal at the County Ground before making the short trip on the official team coach with Paul Sturrock on board.

"It's a big game for us and the club and hopefully the boys can do themselves and Swindon Town proud by winning through to Round Three."

In tonight's other tie, Tranmere travel to Cambridge United hoping to secure their first home tie in three seasons, with Crewe Alexandra awaiting the winners.

Shaun Garnett, the Tranmere academy director, said: "It would be great for the lads to play at Prenton Park in front of their friends and family, but they can't look beyond the match at Cambridge.

"It will be a tough game for us and we need to make the most of our chances. Fingers crossed, we'll have a good result and finally get to play at home."
