Watford 0-2 Tottenham Hotspur The FA Youth Cup, Sixth Round Vicarage Road 17 March 2005
Tottenham are the third side through to the Semi-Finals of The FA Youth Cup after a convincing 2-0 win against Watford at Vicarage Road.
The visitors got off to the perfect start with a goal from Charlie Daniels after just one minute of the match.
Andy Barcham set the goal up with an excellent run that saw him evade the challenge of Adrian Mariappa, to reach the byline and cross low for the winger to finish at the near post.
Tottenham continued to press the home side and they went close to making it two when Jamie O'Hara's corner found Charlie Lee, who beat Reece Kirk in the air but couldn't quite get enough on his header which was cleared.
Spurs did make it 2-0 after 24 minutes and this time it was creator turned scorer as Barcham ran clear of the Watford defence to reach Lee's perfectly-weighted pass.
He controlled the ball well in a good position in the inside left channel and shot past Kirk.
Watford nearly found a way back into the match when a quick turn and break from Joel Grant suddenly put the Spurs defence on the back foot.
He laid the ball into Andrew Chapman in the box, who, despite the attentions of Phil Ifil and Leigh Mills, crashed a fierce drive at goal which rattled Tommy Forecast's crossbar.
A more positive Watford started to create more clear cut openings after the interval. Forecast had to get down low to his right to tip Al Bangura's shot around the post and then four minutes later he made an excellent save from Ryan Gilligan's 25-yard effort.
Now controlling the midfield, Watford were clearly on top but they still found it hard to break through a stubborn Tottenham defence and even when they did, Lady Luck was not on their side.
On 64 minutes Chapman was once again cursing his misfortune when his superb curling free-kick beat Forecast only to hit the top of the crossbar and bounce to safety.
As Watford pushed for a goal to bring them back into the game, they started to leave gaps at the back and Kirk had to save well from Radwan Hamed and Jamie Davis.
