FA Vase heroes Kirkham & Wesham fly out for a well earned rest to Barcelona on Thursday in recognition of their Wembley success and for gaining promotion to Step Five football at the first attempt.

Manager Mick Fuller will accompany his Wembley troops for a four-day break to the Spanish resort as a reward for what has been a tremendous campaign for the Lancashire club.

“The players deserve to let their hair down after such a gruelling season," said Fuller.

“Winning at Wembley and seeing so many family and friends from Kirkham & Wesham there was unbelievable.

“It’s something that me, the players, and the rest of the management team will remember for the rest of our lives.

“What a day and what memories for us all.”

However, attentions have already turned to next season for Fuller and once the break to Barcelona is over, more hard work will begin to prepare his team for the 2008-09 term.

“We have to keep our finger on the pulse,” he added.

“I’m sure the club will have to strengthen certain positions in the team for next season, as we are going to play at a higher level.

“But l’m being fair to everyone here at the moment and will ask them all to come back next season.”

The club will start the new season under the new name of AFC Fylde and their first game will be against near neighbours and Conference North outfit Fleetwood Town in July.
