Epsom and Ewell manager Lyndon Buckwell had no complaints as his side were held to a disappointing 2-2 home draw with Tunbridge Wells in The FA Vase Second Round Qualifying.
Both sides have had indifferent starts to the season, and Saturday’s encounter at Merland Rise failed to produce a winner.
Buckwell said: “We started well, played some good football but, in the end, I can have no complaints with the result.
“They are a good side with lots of experienced players. We have a lot of youngsters who are still learning, and with a new team like this, we are taking some time to gel,” he continued.
Tunbridge famously won an FA Cup penalty shoot-out that went to 40 kicks in 2005, and Buckwell admits he hopes to avoid a repeat scenario.
“If that were the case I would have to bring myself on!” he joked. “We will do everything we can to avoid it and I am looking forward to Tuesday’s replay.”
Elsewhere in The FA Vase, Bournemouth FC romped to a 12-0 home victory over Wootten Bassett Town at Victoria Park.
Pilkington XXX travelled to Goodrich FC and came away with a comprehensive 7-2 win while Seaham Red Star also hit seven, but with no reply from visitors Sunderland RCA.
Ely City FC and Lincoln Moorlands Railway shared a six-goal thriller at the Unwin Ground. The Robins now take their place in the draw for the next stage.
AFC Emly won a tight contest with Ramsbottom United, edging the tie 4-3.
