Northern League Shildon, conquerors of FA Vase holders Nantwich Town in extra-time on Saturday, were handed another away tie in today's Third Round Proper draw at Soho Square.
Currently third in the Division One table, the lads from Dean Street travel to Retford United of the Northern Counties East League's Premier Division on 9 December.
Whitley Bay, Vase winners at Villa Park in 2002, are three places behind Shildon but have games in hand on all the sides above them. Monday's draw has given them a home tie against Coalville Town of the Midland Alliance, who lined up at Wycombe in The FA Cup's First Round Proper two years ago.
Wimborne Town, third in the Wessex League's Premier Division, lifted the Vase in '92 to become Dorset's first Wembley winners. After edging Ilfracombe Town 3-2 at the latter's Marlborough Park ground on Saturday, Wimborne now play away to Chalfont St Peter or Fareham Town.
Not surprisingly, Vase new boys FC United of Manchester attracted the biggest Second Round crowd at the weekend, with 2,799 witnessing their 3-2 success at Salford City. Another bumper attendance is guaranteed as the North West Counties League Division One club entertain Quorn from the Midland Alliance.
Curzon Ashton, from the same division as FC United but 16 points behind, were the round's top scorers with seven against Parkgate on Saturday. They now go to South Shields, who themselves won a nine-goal thriller.
There were nearly 900 at Treyew Road to see Western League Truro City win the big Cornish clash with St Blazey and reach Round Three for the first time. Truro's reward is a trip to Hampshire to take on Wessex League Lymington Town.
