York City boss Colin Walker admits his side are on course for an 'unbelievable' date at Wembley after watching his side book a Semi Final berth with victory over Rushden and Diamonds at Nene Park.

Walker has led the Minstermen on an 18-match unbeaten run, having taken over first team duties in November.

The side from KitKat Crescent have since risen to 11th position in the league and Walker believes a place in the last four of The FA Trophy is a fitting reward.

“This is down to the players, the coaching staff and the club as a whole,” he beamed.

“After I took over, we changed the way we play - and the boys have adapted superbly.

“Today I thought we were terrific,” he continued. “We defended well and just shaded what was a tight encounter.”

With Wembley now only 180 minutes away, Walker insists his side will prepare for the two-legged Semi Final just like they do for any other game.

“We are two good results away from a place at Wembley and that is unbelievable really," he added.

"Our season is still alive and we will prepare for the Semi Final in the same way as we will for our up-coming league fixtures.

“The coming weeks will be massive for this club - not only in The Trophy, but in our push for promotion too,” he added. “You never know what can happen.

“For now we are going to enjoy having won this game - but there is a lot of hard-graft left for us this season.”
