The 39th FA Carlsberg Trophy competition has reached its Third Round Qualifying stage, with the draw having been made at Soho Square today.

Clubs from the Conference North and South now join the fray and their respective current leaders, Harrogate Town and Eastbourne Borough, have enjoyed mixed fortunes in the draw.

Town will host Kettering Town, two points behind them in the table, while Borough - like Arsenal, unbeaten in all competitions - travel to either Kings Lynn or Billericay Town.

Lewes, Borough's Sussex neighbours who trail them by just one point, go to Basingstoke Town in The Trophy. Steve King's Rooks knocked out Grays Athletic from the Blue Square Premier in an FA Cup replay last week to set up a First Round Proper tie at Mansfield at the weekend. Gainsborough Trinity, who have a home FA Cup tie against Hartlepool United from League One to look forward to, go to Blyth Spartans in The Trophy.

Saturday's Second Round Qualifying ties produced 12 drawn matches, so the draw will look a lot clearer after this week's replays. Leatherhead, Trophy finalists at the old Wembley in 1978, were two minutes away from an early exit against Mangotsfield United. Then Scott Forrester slammed in an equaliser at 1-1 to give The Tanners a chance of facing Bashley in the New Forest in three weeks' time.

One of the weekend's winners were AFC Wimbledon, who had a convincing 4-0 win over Ryman Premier leaders Chelmsford City in front of 1,683 fans at Kingsmeadow Stadium. Another sizeable crowd will be expected for their home tie with the winners of tomorrow night's replay between Northwood and AFC Hornchurch.

The Third Round Qualifying is scheduled for 24 November, the 40 winners each picking up £3,000.
