Stevenage defender Ronnie Henry became the first captain to lead a team up the famous steps and lift a trophy at the new Wembley after the club’s FA Carlsberg Trophy Final win over Kidderminster.
The 23-year-old was released by Premiership outfit Tottenham three years ago, but he put those memories firmly behind him after achieving this feat.
Henry follows in the footsteps of some famous names such as Bobby Moore to become a cup-winning captain at the historic ground – but he has beaten the likes of John Terry and Gary Neville to do the same at the new stadium.
And to make top things off for Henry, he was watched by more than 53,000 people as Stevenage came from two goals down to win a thrilling game.
He said "It was amazing walking up those steps and it’s something I’ve dreamt of doing since I was young.
"To lift The Trophy in front of all those fans was a privilege and a feeling I can’t put into words.
"I was exhausted when I got half-way up the steps, but nothing was going to stop me getting all the way up to lift The Trophy."
He added: "I had to bounce back from getting released by Tottenham, and although it’s been hard, what can be better than being the first captain to lift a trophy at the new Wembley."
