Kidderminster Harriers booked their place in The FA Carlsberg Trophy Final with a nervy aggregate win over Northwich Victoria.
Trailing 2-0 after the first leg, Victoria were quick to level the tie with strikes from Matt Shaw and Carlos Roca within the first 15 minutes.
Kidderminster fought back with goals by Mark Creighton and James Constable to make it 2-2 - and restore the two-goal advantage over both legs.
A last-minute penalty from Michael Carr gave Victoria the win on the day, but was not enough to secure a place in The Final as Kidderminster hung on to their lead from the first match.
It will be the first time Kidderminster have reached The Final since 1995, when they lost 2-1 to Woking, eight years after lifting The Trophy at Wembley.
Harriers boss Mark Yates was delighted to reach The Final and now wants The Trophy success to spur his side into the Nationwide Conference play-offs.
“We played well for the first ten minutes but still found ourselves 2-0 down. We really didn’t do a lot wrong but I feared we had thrown away all the hard work from last week,” he said.
“Once we pulled a goal back, I was confident that we would go through. I was pleased with my players as they never lost their focus.
Yates added: “I am absolutely delighted to be in the final and hopefully this will spur us on to make the play-offs. I don’t want our season to fade out just because we've reached a final.
“A lot of people have written off our chance of making the play-offs, but we have 12 games left and I want to finish the season strongly. Hopefully we will have the both play-offs and The Final to look forward to in May.
“The players have to remain focused from now until the end of the season. They have a lot to play for – including their place in the team.”
Kidderminster will now meet Stevenage Borough in The Final on Saturday 12 May 2007.
