Boreham Wood's extraordinary exploits continued on Saturday when the club astonishingly disposed of National Conference Crawley Town 2-0 at the Broadfield Stadium.

Chairman Danny Hunter said: "The best anyone in the club was hoping for was a draw," he revealed. "We thought we had it in us to bring them back to our place but that was the limit of our ambition."

Boreham Wood play out of the Southern League Division One East, three leagues below Crawley, but their discipline and organisation were far superior to that of their opponents.

Crawley managed just one shot on target in the opening 45 minutes and amazingly Wood took a stranglehold on the match.

With Michael Black's influence growing, Wood took the lead in the 74th minute, the midfielder's pass finding Ian Cooper who drilled past despairing Phil Smith.

With Crawley offering little up front, Boreham Wood retained control in the latter stages and completed a famous victory when Leon Archer blasted in a deserved spot kick.

"I am delighted with my players and their attitude," said manager Steve Cook. "We're so high on confidence now we don't care who we get in the quarter-finals."

Grays Athletic fashioned a morale boosting 1-0 victory over Hereford courtesy of a strike on the hour from midfielder Michael Kightly.

Manager Mark Stimpson was thrilled with his team who, for the third consecutive round, downed National Conference opposition away from home.

"Apart from Accrington Stanley, Hereford are the best side we've played this season," he revealed. "The boys were fantastic. They gave me everything and I've told them how proud I am of them."

#Conference North Stafford Rangers claimed their second National Conference scalp when they beat Forest Green 2-1 with goals from Craig Lovatt and Neil Grayson.

Another upset looked on the cards at Woking, the National Conference side having to overcome a two-goal deficit to put out plucky Welling United of the Conference South.

Conference leaders Accrington Stanley have stumbled their way through the FA Trophy this season and had to cling on at home to Worksop.

Worksop's hero in a 1-1 draw was former Doncaster Rovers striker Ben Saunders.

Exeter City needed an own goal from Craig Pope three minutes from time to overcome spirited Cambridge City.

There was a dour stalemate at The Lamb Ground as Tamworth's FA Cup heroes failed to unlock a determined Dagenham and Redbridge defence and had to settle for a goalless draw.

And there was another goalless draw at The Raymond McEnhill Stadium, with Salisbury City failing to break down resilient Stalybridge Celtic who will be looking forward to the replay on Tuesday night.
