The FA Trophy
Third Round Proper
3pm, Saturday 03 February 2006

Lifelong Chelsea fan Danny Hunter sees Boreham Wood’s clash at Crawley Town in the last 16 of The FA Trophy as the culmination of a private dream.

“It’s a magical time,” smiled Hunter. “We’re on cloud nine right now. And to have been drawn against a side who’s manager was in the Chelsea 1970 Cup winning side is the icing on the cake.”

Modest Hunter does not expect his side to get past the Conference National outfit, but then no one gave the team a hope against Gravesend and Northfleet in the previous round.

“It was worth giving up my Chelsea season ticket for what the club’s achieved in the last 18 months,” said a thrilled Hunter at the time.

“It might be too much to hope for another upset, but I’m sure the boys will do us proud.”

Of the other seven ties holders Grays Athletic may have their work cut out going any further.

The 2005 winners have battled their way through to this stage, needing two ties to edge out Aldershot Town in round one and then clinching a 1-0 victory over Kidderminster Harriers in the 90th minute in the second round.

For the third round in succession they have been drawn away to a Conference National side – this time in-form Hereford United.

They have also been impressive in The FA Trophy, dismantling Bognor Regis Town 7-1 and edging past a good Halifax side 1-0 in the last round.

Another all Conference National tie pits The FA Cup heroes Tamworth at home to Dagenham and Redbridge.

Exeter City will entertain Cambridge City in the last 16 while Woking and Accrington Stanley also entertain lower league opposition after winning second round replays.

Forest Green Rovers are away to Conference North leaders Stafford Rangers while Stalybridge Celtic will be away to Southern League Premier leaders Salisbury City.

The FA Trophy final will take place at West Ham United’s Boleyn Ground on Sunday 14 May, kick-off at 3pm and is to be televised live on Sky Sports. For further information click here
