It's The Final of The FA Trophy, in partnership with Carlsberg, today and it will be the climax to the 35th anniversary celebrations of the nation’s premier non-league cup competition.

Thousands of supporters of Canvey Island and Hednesford Town are expected to converge on Aston Villa FC’s Villa Park this afternoon for the showpiece finale to the non-league season.

Tickets are still available from Villa Park when the turnstiles open at 2.30pm. The Holte End ticket office will be open for Canvey Island fans and the Trinity Road ticket office will be open for Hednesford Town supporters.

Canvey Island will be hoping to repeat their glory of winning The FA Trophy in 2001 and add to their convincing championship victory in the Ryman League, which would see them complete the double. Hednesford Town, meanwhile, will be looking to end their season on a high with a win on their final debut after a disappointing season that saw them finish in the bottom three of the Dr Marten's League.

The winners will be presented with The FA Trophy by The FA’s Chief Guest Peter Shilton OBE and £50,000 in prize money by The FA - £38,000 more than Burscough received last season.

Victory for Canvey Island would take the prize money they have been awarded by The FA up to £91,000 and Hednesford Town would see their total prize fund go up to £92,800.

The FA dramatically increased the total prize fund for The FA Trophy this season from £225,000 to £631,000, an increase of £406,000, highlighting its continued support for this level of the game.

The final, to be shown live on Sky, will kick-off at 4pm. Paul Mullen, Marketing Manager of The FA, said: "The final of The FA Trophy is regarded as the showpiece finale to the non-league season and it promises to be an exciting encounter between Canvey Island and Hednesford Town.

"The FA and Aston Villa FC are looking forward to welcoming players and supporters to Villa Park for what is sure to be a memorable occasion, especially with The FA Trophy celebrating its 35th anniversary."

Tickets for the final are priced £20 and £15 for adults, and £5 for under 16s and over 65s. Ticket prices for wheelchair users are £15 with admission for their helpers free.
