York City thrashed Grays Athletic in the replay of the Second Round of The FA Carlsberg Trophy as last year's beaten finalists Kidderminster Harriers were knocked out on penalties by Weymouth.
York took the lead in the 35th minute when Nicky Wroe fired home the only goal of the first half.
In the second period the floodgates opened as Colin Walker's men booked their place in the Third Round and a tie against the winners of next week's replay between Alfreton Town and Farsley Celtic.
Richard Brodie scored from the spot before Wroe scored his second on the hour mark. Brodie grabbed his second in the 68th minute to put the result beyond doubt.
Grays did have time to grab a consolation goal through Danny Cadwell fifteen minutes from the end but it was not enough.
In the other game of the night Kidderminster Harriers took Weymouth all the way before going out on spot-kicks.
The game finished 2-2 after extra-time, but Weymouth were clinical in the shoot out as they went through 3-0.
They will travel to Ebbsfleet United in the next round, which takes place on Saturday 2 February.
