Dock were emphatic 6-0 winners over Obiter Fabs 4 in the Second Round of The FA Sunday Cup, although secretary Jeff Sheeran admitted the result hinged on a crucial sending off.
Tim Bigland bagged a hat-trick for the team from Birkenhead, but it was a red card for Obiter goalkeeper Johnny Smith on the half-hour mark that really swung the balance.
Sheeran said: “The sending off made a difference because they couldn’t cope with ten men.
"It was a good win and we are really pleased. To be honest we didn’t expect to win 6-0 away.
"We are going to take each day as it comes, we don’t have any big expectations but we will enjoy while it lasts."
Elsewhere, last year's finalists Coundon Conservative and Lebeq Tavern also made it through to the next round. Reigning champions Coundon won 3-0 at home against Ford Motors and Lebeq grabbed a 2-1 away victory at Corsham Centre.
The other big winners of the round were Paddock who beat Heywood Irish Centre 6-1 away.
Dawdon Colliery Welfare also netted half a dozen goals as the side from Durham beat Bolton Wood 6-3 at home.
Birstall Stamford also enjoyed a big win but it was nail-biting stuff in Leicestershire as the home side left it until extra time to seal a 5-3 win over Grosvenor Park.
