Blackburn Rovers have won The Cup six times but not since the 1920s: 1884, 1885, 1886, 1890, 1891 and 1928. They have appeared in eight Finals. They are appearing in their 17th Semi-Final and their first since 1960.

Newcastle United have won The Cup six times but not for 50 years: 1910, 1924, 1932, 1951, 1952 and 1955. They have appeared in 13 Finals, most recently in 1999 when they lost to Manchester United at Wembley, and this is their 17th Semi-Final.
