Player of the Round 2007-08
Fifth Round Proper

Luke Steele - Barnsley
Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink - Cardiff City
David James - Portsmouth
Wayne Rooney - Manchester United

As we reach the Sixth Round stage of The FA Cup, teams know they are just 90 minutes away from a Semi-Final spot and Wembley - but you could send one lucky star to the famous stadium in our 'Player of the Round' vote.

Four names have been nominated for the prize after a thrilling round of the competition saw a number of fine performances, and Luke Steele, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, David James and Wayne Rooney have been nominated for their performances.

Mark Clemmit of Radio Five Live and Howard Wheatcroft of the Daily Star both went for Barnsley goalkeeper Luke Steele, whose heroic effort between the posts earned one of the shocks of recent years.

Ricky George of the Daily Telegraph chose Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink who rolled back the years with a virtuoso forward display for Cardiff as they made it to the Sixth Round for the first time in 81 years. His performance was rounded off by a sublime strike that settled the tie.

David Emery of the Non-League Paper went for David James who saved a penalty from Simon Whaley and made a number of fine stops that gave Portsmouth the chance to sneak through.

E.ON Managing Director Graham Bartlett selected Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney who led the Red Devils to a memorable 4-0 win over Arsenal at Old Trafford.

The FA Cup Player of the Round award, sponsored by E.ON, is presented to the outstanding player at each stage of competition, starting from the First Qualifying Round all the way to the Semi-Final.

Player of the Round winners will receive VIP hospitality for themselves and their guest at The FA Cup Final on Saturday 17 May 2008.

The winner of each award will be presented with a trophyalong with a kit bag of training equipment which he can donate to a local school of his choice. Voting closes at 9am on Wednesday 27 February 2008.
