Tranmere Rovers boss Ronnie Moore is hoping for a sprinkling of FA Cup magic when his side take on Hereford on Saturday.

Moore is a fervent fan of The Cup and would dearly love a run in the competition. However, he knows that Hereford, despite being a division lower, are not travelling to Prenton Park to be cast in the role of whipping boys.

"The FA Cup is something special and everybody looks forward to it," said Moore.

"There are some big games over the weekend, but Tranmere v Hereford is just as important. We want to get through this round but we know it won't be easy."

Moore is wary of Saturday's opponents who relish life on the road. Indeed, they caused one of the shocks of the First Round when, after holding in-form Leeds to a goalless draw at home, they grabbed a 1-0 win at Elland Road.

"I think they've won 11 games away from home this season and went to Leeds and won, so they deserve respect," said Moore.

"They're second in the Second Division, but it won't be easy for them. We're at home and we have to make the home advantage tell as there could be a massive reward."

Moore has called on Tranmere's fans to act as their 12th man.

"The vocal support has been amazing away from home and we need that on Saturday," he added. "I know we have to light the blue touch paper, and we'll be trying like mad. The effort will be there and hopefully the armosphere will be electric.

"It's the best competition in the world and it's great to be part of it."
