Shaun Allaway produced the performance of his career to help Staines Town dump Stockport County out of The FA Cup on penalties after a pulsating contest at Wheatsheaf Park.
The former Leeds United goalkeeper, saved from both Ian Pilkington and David Poole in the shoot-out, leaving Dave Sargent, an estate agent by trade, to send Staines into the Second Round of the competition for the first time in their history.
Sargent's strike sparked wild scenes of celebration as Steve Corduroy's men set up a home tie with Peterborough United a week on Saturday.
Having taken the lead through fireman Adrian Toppin's ninth minute header, Staines battled valiantly to preserve their lead with a tenacious showing and an impressive team spirit on display.
Roared on by a record crowd of 2,860, the Ryman Premier side looked more than capable of reaching the Second Round of the competition for the first time their history.
However, with just eleven minutes of normal time remaining, disaster struck for Staines, as Adam Griffin's cross was headed goalwards by Anthoy Elding - and despite a superb save from Allaway, Matty McNeill scrambled home an equaliser to force the game into extra-time.
Staines saw huge appeals for a last minute spot kick waved away by referee Darren Deadman, despite Jason Taylor quite clearly wrestling Gareth Risbriger to the ground inside the penalty box.
Stockport looked set to make the most of their superior fitness levels in extra-time and Staines goalkeeper Allaway produced yet another fabulous save to deny McNeill from close-range.
Anthony Pilkington came close to snatching a dramatic winner for the visitors with a delightful curling effort from 25-yards, while Allaway had to be on his toes once again to deny the same player just moments later.
With neither team able to force the issue in extra-time, it was left to the lottery of penalty kicks to decide the outcome and for Allaway to steal the headlines.
