Six goals could not separate League One rivals Bristol Rovers and Leyton Orient after extra-time in their First Round FA Cup replay and it took ELEVEN shoot-out penalties to eventually settle the tie.
Orient's Adam Chambers missed the crucial kick to hand Rovers an unlikely victory, 6-5 on penalties, and a home game against Rushden and Diamonds in Saturday's Second Round.
Manager Paul Trollope (left) expressed his relief after a thrilling tie in which Orient had two players sent off and both sides had held the lead at various stages throughout the game.
"We made mistakes and had our lapses," said Trollope.
"It was not easy to come back against a team defending with nine men, but we are through to the next round and that is the important thing. I am very pleased with the attitude and professionalism we showed overall."
Luton Town, who went into administration last week, were left celebrating the magic of the Cup after a 2-0 replay win at Brentford earned them a potentially lucrative Second Round tie against former finalists Nottingham Forest.
Delighted Luton manager Kevin Blackwell admitted: "We need every penny we can get at the moment."
Forest booked their trip to Kenilworth Road with a relatively comfortable 3-1 home win over Lincoln City.
Oldham Athletic completed the Second Round line-up as they scored an impressive 2-1 win at Doncaster Roves to earn a Saturday clash against Crewe Alexandra.
