England and Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer is backing Portsmouth's Sol Campbell to do something he never did as a player - be the winning captain in an FA Cup Final.
Shearer, who was the Newcastle captain when they lost in The Final to double-winning Arsenal in 1998 and then again the following season to Manchester United, believes Harry Redknapp's men will be too strong for Championship side Cardiff.
"I think it will be Portsmouth," he said.
"It has not been a year for the favourites, but I think they will have enough to beat Cardiff."
Portsmouth were the only Premier League team in the last four of this year's Cup and Shearer believes the unpredictable nature of this year's competition, summed up best by Barnsley's remarkable victories over Liverpool and Chelsea, has been a fantastic advert for the world's oldest footballing spectacle.
"It has been a great year for the underdogs," added Shearer.
"What it does do is give them all hope for next season.
"I bet some other clubs are looking at Portsmouth and Cardiff, who have a done a great job to get to Wembley, and will be thinking 'what a chance we missed to get to The FA Cup Final.'
"The good thing is that next year they will all be thinking that if it happened last year, maybe it will happen for us this season."
