Portsmouth striker Nwankwo Kanu says an FA Cup Final victory would be the perfect way to end a great season for the club.
Having won The Cup twice with Arsenal, the Nigerian striker is on the verge of a memorable hat-trick of FA Cup wins, but says being in the FA Cup Final this year with Portsmouth is a completely different experience.
"It's something special," Kanu said.
"Being here with Portsmouth is so different from Arsenal. It's been such a long time since our last Final, and it's brilliant for the team and the fans."
"Nobody believed Portsmouth were going to make it this far, and we finished in a nice position in the League which is also good. It's been a long time since the club has done this well."
When he left Arsenal to join Harry Redknapp at Portsmouth, few would have thought Kanu would be in contention for another major honour, but despite being in the autumn of his career, the big striker's competitive spirit remains strong.
"As a footballer you always have the dream of winning trophies," said Kanu, who also explained how Redknapp’s influence on the side has helped Portsmouth to greater heights.
"When we came to Pompey, we knew the gaffer, we all believed in him and wanted to bring the club up. That's what we did last year and now we've moved on again."
"To score in The FA Cup Final and to win it again with Portsmouth would really round everything we've achieved off quite nicely."
