It was a tale of two brothers as Lowestoft Town came from two goals behind to defeat AFC Sudbury on penalties to secure their passage into the First Round Qualifying of The FA Cup.
Darren Cockrill netted a brace in the last half hour to take the Preliminary Round replay into extra-time, while brother Dale stepped up to notch the winning penalty in the shootout after an incident-packed encounter.
Sudbury seemed in control at half-time with a two goal advantage before Darren Cockrill headed the hosts back into contention midway into the second period.
He then saw younger brother Dale brought down in the area before hammering home the resulting penalty to equalise with less than ten minutes remaining to send the tie into extra-time and eventually penalties.
Lowestoft goalkeeper Andy Reynolds saved the visitors' first kick and after Sudbury struck the post with their third, it was left to Dale to slot home to complete the fairytale story.
Lowestoft secretary Terry Lynes was delighted with the comeback: "It was a fantastic game and it had everyone inside glued to their seats right until the end. It is just a shame there has to be a loser in these types of games."
Lowestoft, runners up in last season's FA Vase, now travel to Cambridge City in the First Round Qualifying.
"We pride ourselves on playing well on a good pitch so we are looking forward to going to Cambridge and showing what we can do," Lynes added.
Elsewhere in Preliminary Round action on Tuesday night, Raunds Town also required penalties to defeat Woodford United after a goalless draw.
There were additional extra-time wins for Willenhall Town away at Bedworth United, Thatcham Town at home to Witney United and Chipstead won 2-0 against Herne Bay after the 90 minutes had ended in stalemate.
It was slightly easier for Wingate & Finchley who beat Northampton Spencer 4-0 in their replay, while Witham Town recorded a superb 4-1 away win at Maldon Town.
