Crook Town came from a goal behind to demolish North Shields 6-1 in the Extra Preliminary Round of The FA Cup.
North Shields took the lead after just 30 seconds and then held onto it for 22 minutes but it was Crook Town who applied all the pressure and eventually the away side equalised through Daniel Olusoga.
Just before half time Liam Bone gave the visitors, who have the impressive record of having beaten Barcelona twice in their history, the lead. Two minutes after the break man-of-the-match Matthew Coad scored the goal of the game as he thundered in a 30 yard effort into the top corner. Coad has played for York City in League Two and was the class performer on the pitch.
Further goals from Darren Kokes, Nicholas Quinn and Tom Berj rounded off a comfortable win for the side who play in the Northern League Division Two.
Crook have won The FA Amateur Cup five times and they could have scored a number of further goals but in the end they were content with the result.
Crook Town manager Peter Dixon said after the game: "I was really happy with the way we came back from going a goal down after 30 seconds, and we showed a lot of character to get back in the game."
