Kevin Keegan's return to Newcastle began in the best possible way as goals from Michael Owen, Cacapa, James Milner and Damien Duff ensured a 4-1 home victory over Stoke in their FA Cup Third Round replay.
Newcastle's reward is a trip to face Arsenal in the Fourth Round in ten days time.
Keegan's return to Tyneside 11 years after he emotionally resigned from the same role was announced hours before kick-off and it sent the city into raptures, with fans turning up in their thousands to welcome back the man they refer to as 'the messiah'.
And it took only eight minutes for Owen to poach a goal at the near post, with Cacapa doubling the advantage on the half-hour, moments after Emre had been sent-off for the hosts following a knee-high lunge on John Eustace.
James Milner wrapped up the win with 22 minutes remaining to give Keegan the perfect welcome home gift, and Duff added the final flourish on an emotional night with his first goal in 16 months, before Liam Lawrence scored a late consolation.
In the night's other tie, League Two high-fliers Hereford United will host Cardiff City in the fourth round after beating League One side Tranmere 1-0 at Edgar Street.
Simon Johnson scored the only goal of the game 18 minutes from time.
