The FA Cup sponsored by E.ON
Third Round Proper

5-6 January 2008

The FA has launched a promotion to encourage parents to introduce their children to the magic and excitement of The FA Cup – for just £1 a ticket.

Next month’s Third Round of The FA Cup sponsored by E.ON will see The FA launch the ‘One FA Cup’ promotion, a brand new ticket initiative, giving adults the chance to purchase a £1 children’s ticket to support either home or away clubs for one of six specially chosen fixtures.

The ‘One FA Cup’ promotion, which is funded by The FA will take place at the following fixtures:

  • Blackburn Rovers v Coventry City
  • Plymouth Argyle v Hull City
  • Bolton Wanderers v Sheffield United
  • Sunderland v Wigan Athletic
  • Huddersfield Town v Birmingham City
  • Wolverhampton Wanderers v Cambridge United

FA Chief Executive Brian Barwick commented: “This is the first time we’ve done something like this and we are pleased to be able to do it. The Third Round of The FA Cup, with lower league and non-League teams aiming to upset teams from the top end of the game, has a unique and special place in the football calendar.

"The FA Cup is a competition that every season creates great drama and excitement. Viewing figures on television and match attendances are strong and we want to build on that by giving as many families, and especially children, the chance to experience the magic of the tournament live.”

The six matches, which will be amongst 32 fixtures taking place on Third Round weekend on 5/6 January 2008, are hosted by three teams from the Premier League, two from the Championship and one from League One.

The matches were chosen to encompass a mix of teams from different leagues and geographical locations, giving as many families all over the country the chance to go and watch live football on what is one of the most exciting weekends of the domestic football season.
