The FA Cup sponsored by E.ON
Player of the Round 2007-08
Second Round Proper

Peterborough United's Craig Mackail-Smith will be at Wembley next May for The FA Cup Final, after fans voted him the 'Player of the Second Round'.

A thrilling hat-trick for Posh in a dominant 5-0 win over Staines was enough for the fans to vote in their droves, with Mackail-Smith earning more than half those cast in the online poll.

The Peterborough forward beat off competition from Tony Taggart, Mark Branch, Paul Seuke and Paul Benson.

Mackail-Smith has featured on TheFA.com in the past, playing for Dagenham and Redbridge in 2006 he was selected for the England National Game XI (now known as England 'C') and scored in an European Challenge Trophy victory over Italy.

Mackail-Smith then scored again as England lifted the Challenge Trophy with a win over Holland, the win coming at Burton Albion last November.

The Peteborough forward will receive VIP hospitality for himself and his guest at The FA Cup Final on Saturday 17 May 2008, the second Cup Final at the New Wembley.

Mackail-Smith will also be presented with a solid silver salver along with a kit bag of training equipment which he can donate to a local school of his choice.
