Andy Sinton’s Fleet Town returned to FA Cup form with a convincing 3-1 victory over Gosport Borough at Privett Park.
Sinton had been left disappointed following Saturday’s goalless draw at Calthorpe Park, but his side gave the perfect response in Tuesday’s replay.
Following the result the ex-England international spoke of his delight at the convincing win.
"I am very happy," he said. "It was a much better performance which is nothing less than I expected."
Two goals from James Field either side of a Martin Gurling strike ensured Fleet progressed in comprehensive manner.
Sinton was full of praise for Gosport but admitted his side did more than enough to win over the two games.
"We knew they would battle hard and try and make the game hard for us. We should have won on Saturday but the beauty of The Cup means teams always get a second chance."
Fleet now host Mangotsfield, a side one division above Town in the Second Round Qualifying.
Sinton believes it will be a good marker as to how good his table-topping-team are. He added: "We need to respect them but we will also respect ourselves. If we want to get promoted this year then this game will be the perfect test.
"We are looking forward to pitting our wits against better opposition but they will not fancy coming to us."
Elsewhere in FA Cup replays, Ware edged a thrilling contest with Great Wakering Rovers at Burroughs Park. The visitors emerged victorious in a 5-4 epic.
In another tight encounter, Bashley overcame a spirited VT FC challenge to advance with a 4-3 victory.
Visitors Dartford FC trounced Sittingbourne 5-1 at Bourne Park - the hosts were comfortably swept aside as Dartford advanced in style.
Ady Colwell saw his Eastbourne Town side narrowly beaten at Walton & Hersham. The Saffrons’ side battled hard but went down 2-1.
