With a World Cup winner’s medal, two League Championships and an FA Cup triumph, Roger Hunt was one of the most successful players of his era.
Hunt scored 286 goals in 492 games for Liverpool and 18 in 34 appearances for his country, but prior to these exploits Hunt spent an early stint of his career at Devizes Town in Wiltshire.

Now his old club are seeking to change their recent fortunes in The FA Cup and progress beyond the Extra Preliminary Round for the first time since 2000.
Devizes’ first step this season is an away trip to North Leigh and Andy Muckle, club secretary, is hoping they can go on a good run.
“There is the financial side of a good run, but there is also the opportunity to test yourself against teams in higher leagues.
"We’ve got a youngish side this year and North Leigh will be a hard side to beat on the day, but hopefully we can progress,” he said.
Muckle admits that it is a source of pride for Devizes that such a decorated footballer as Hunt once pulled on their shirt.
The World Cup winner returned to Wiltshire to open their new clubhouse some years ago and Muckle’s men will be hoping that is the scene of celebrations come Saturday evening.
