Cobham have probably come as close to The FA Cup as any of the non-League teams in the Extra Preliminary Round this weekend – their ground is just a long goal-kick from the training ground of current holders Chelsea. And some of the members of the Surrey side’s squad will feature in the first game of the competition this season having watched the Blues lift the trophy at Wembley just three months ago.

Secretary Ken Reed says: “We have a good connection with Chelsea. Their groundsman is helping us with our pitch this season, and they have provided us with equipment in the past.
Our change kit is one of the original Chelsea blue kits, so you can imagine how impressive that is.
“Our boys really do appreciate playing in FA Cup – they are proud to be in the same competition as their heroes.
“One of our players, Ben Knight, works at Chelsea’s training ground on the youth set-up helping with some of the scouting for their juniors. His dad Peter, our match secretary, is a Chelsea nut.
"He has been a season ticket holder from the bad times, and he and his boys went to Wembley last year to see the final.”
“To a club like us this match could pay for a new turnstile, and a run to the Third Qualifying Round would mean we had a good season.”
