Wes Brown is desperate to avoid the bitter taste of defeat when Manchester United take on Chelsea this weekend in the The FA Cup Final.

The defender lifted the trophy in 2004 when United beat Millwall, but that was followed by losing to Arsenal a year later.

And Brown believes an FA Cup win to secure the Double would be a fitting end to a remarkable season in which United won their sixteenth league title.

Brown said: "Against Arsenal we played really well but we got beat and we do not want to go through the same scenario again.

"We are going to go out there and play good football and win it for the fans as much as ourselves.

"I am sure it going to be a very difficult game and a very tight game. Both teams are going to go out there wanting to win the game, but we know if we play to our best then we can win the game.

"It has been great to win the league this season because a lot of people had started to write us off saying we wouldn’t win it again. Now we are in another final and it is a great achievement.

"We definitely want the Double and I am sure they want revenge for us winning the title from them."

England international defender Brown is also looking forward to playing his first game on the new Wembley pitch - even though he has a soft spot for Cardiff.

"The stadium looks unbelievable from what I have seen and I am sure it is going to be a great setting for the final. I am sure if you ask all the lads they will tell you they are glad it is back there.

"It is a bit of a shame not to be at Cardiff because I won my first FA Cup medal there, but I am sure it is back at the right place now."
