It was a day of goals, drama and heartache in The FA Cup as over 300 teams looked to book their place in the First Round Qualifying.

While spectators at Deeping Rangers v Dereham Town were deprived of goals, there were plenty of high scoring affairs across the country as the dream of cup glory lived on for some, while others were left to ponder what might have been.

The game of the day was the 13-goal thriller between Collier Wood United and Faversham Town with the home side clinching a dramantic 7-6 victory.

Stotfold also scored seven during their 7-2 win over Potton United, while last season's FA Vase winners Truro City, put six past Barnstaple Town on their way to the next round.

Isthmian League side Burgess Hill Town thrashed Banstead Athletic 7-0 at Leylands Park, while there was also a comfortable victory for Great Wakering Rovers at Tilbury.

Northern League side Shildon Town made it through to the next round of the competition with a dramatic 5-4 win over Goole Town at Dean Street.

Two goals from Tyson Masters inspired the Durham based outfit to victory after coming from 1-0 down and 3-2 down.

The dream of a Norwich derby in The FA Cup will have to be put aside for another year after Norwich United crashed out of the competiton. United were beaten 5-1 by Lincolnshire outfit Spalding United at the Sir Halley Stewart Field.

There were narrow victories for Boston Town and Dover Athletic, while Sherborne Town edged through after a dramatic 3-2 win over Liskeard Athletic.

Shepton Mallett crashed out after a 2-0 home defeat by Hallen FC, while Newcastle Blue Star also gained an away victory, winning 3-1 at Ashington.

Tiptree United's FA Cup dream continued after a 2-0 win over London APSA, following on from their victory over Sawbridgeworth Town in the previous round.

Bury Town took the bragging rights against local rivals AFC Sudbury after a 3-2 win in the Suffolk derby.

Cockfosters and Welwyn Garden City will recommence battle later this week after a 1-1 draw at Herns Way.
