Watford defender Jay DeMerit wants a dream FA Cup Final appearance to end a fairytale few years.
The American's career is something out of Hollywood. DeMerit trekked across the Atlantic in search of professional football in England and started playing non-League football for Northwood before he was spotted by then Watford manager Ray Lewington, who snapped him up.
Now DeMerit is a Premier League defender and eager to make his mark on The Cup, starting at Plymouth on Sunday.
He admits, however, that while Watford may have landed the easiest draw on paper, he has warned his team-mates not to expect an easy ride at Home Park.
While Ian Holloway's Plymouth have yet to face a Premiership side in The FA Cup, DeMerit knows there are no easy ties when it comes to the Quarter Finals of the competition.
DeMerit added: "If we can get through this round, you never know.
"We know that we will be expected to win but I have played at Plymouth a few times and it's a difficult place to go.
"We are not taking this game lightly and will be treating it like a Premiership game."
DeMerit used to live in Sudbury - one mile from Wembley - and he remembers the old stadium being pulled down.
He said: "When I first came to England, I actually lived very close to the old Wembley.
"Around the time I came over they were taking down the Twin Towers, so you could say I saw the final bit of history go.
"I had heard about Wembley but I did not know too much about it."
