Manchester City and Preston North End, who meet in The FA Cup Fifth Round at Deepdale, are no strangers in FA Cup terms.
They've been drawn together seven times, producing ten matches, in a series that started in the 1890s.
But their tie later this month, a live BBC choice, will be the first between them for 59 years.
The two north-west clubs, who've picked up the trophy six times between them, haven't lined up together in The Cup since Preston centre-forward Billy McIntosh scored to knock City out 1-0 at Maine Road on 7 February 1948.
Glasgow-born McIntosh had joined Preston from St Johnstone after the war and notched 46 goals in 91 League matches.
North End were back at Maine Road three weeks later for the Sixth Round, losing 4-1 to Manchester United.
Preston won the first tie 6-0 at City's old ground at Hyde Road in 1897, only eight years after becoming the first club to achieve a League and Cup 'Double'. That was in the First Round and they met at the same stage five years later, City going through 4-2 at the third attempt.
Overall Preston have won four times and City three. Now Championship plays Premiership and all the ingredients are there for a cracking match.
