King's Lynn wil be hoping to build on their FA Cup record this Saturday.
Better than United
Wednesday, 29 November 2006.
King's Lynn, the Southern League Premier Division side whose home Second Round tie with Oldham Athletic is Sky’s live choice for Friday night, hold a special FA Cup record.
Of all the clubs currently in existence they have won the highest number of FA Cup matches in relation to the number played. The Linnets’ record of 185 victories in 315 matches, going back to their first appearance in the competition in 1900, gives them a success rate of 58.73% - and that can’t be matched by anyone.
Not by Arsenal (53.96%), Manchester United (53.87%), Liverpool (53.69%)…
And King's Lynn’s total of 739 FA Cup goals puts them in seventh place in the all-time list, just three goals behind Manchester United. Conference North Kettering Town, who went out to Oldham in this season’s First Round, lead the way with 817.
Tunbridge Wells Rangers, who played their FA Cup ties pre-war and are a different club to the present Tunbridge Wells FC (formed in 1967), won 59.05% of their matches.
Here are the top ten current clubs:-
1. KING'S LYNN Played 315, Won 185 = 58.73%
2. Salisbury City Played 208, Won 116 = 55.77%
3. Bath City Played 301, Won 165 = 54.82%

Only clubs which have played at least 100 games are included.
Both King's Lynn and Salisbury City, the latter featuring in the BBC’s live tie on Sunday, have a chance to improve their records on this Second Round weekend.
