Lewes hitman Jamie Cade is hoping his side can stay in the FA Cup long enough for him to banish the nightmare of missing out on an FA Cup Fifth Round clash against Premiership Champions Chelsea last year.

Cade, who will be in action against Darlington in the First Round on Saturday, left Colchester in the close season of 2004 only to see the then League One side land a plum tie at Stamford Bridge - where they led Jose Mourinho's men before eventually losing 3-1.

Now the former Middlesbrough forward, who still keeps in touch with England winger Stewart Downing, admits he would love to meet one of the big boys to make up for that missed opportunity.

"In my time at Colchester we had an unbelievable run to the Fifth Round and a match with Sheffield United at Bramall Lane," explains Cade. "That was a great experience but the season I left they managed to draw Chelsea away which was just my luck!

"Chelsea are obviously a good team and are doing well, but I think playing Manchester United would be the pinnacle given their pedigree. We've got to get that far however."

And Cade, who as a native of the north east is familiar with a few of the Darlington players, is confident the Quakers won't be looking forward to a trip to the Dripping Pan.

"The match itself should be interesting as myself and Tony Storey know just about their whole team between us, including Phil Stamp, Robbie Stockdale and Sam Russell, who all featured in the first-team at Boro.

"I'm sure I a few of the Darlo lads will get in touch before the game as they won't be relishing a trip to Lewes. Our ground won't be what they are used to."
